Byung-kwon Ahn, CEO of Jeongyang SG, received the Technology Award of the Architectural Institute of Korea at the Institute’s General Assembly, held on October 25 at the Seoul National University Global Education Center for Engineers.

The Technology Award is a prestigious honor presented to individuals who have made outstanding achievements in architectural technology. Byung-kwon Ahn, CEO of Jeongyang SG, received the award in recognition of his achievements in developing and localizing a structural thermal break product designed to prevent thermal bridging within building structures.

As building insulation standards have become increasingly stringent, thermal bridging through structural components has emerged as a major source of energy loss. However, it has long been considered difficult to address because of structural constraints. After approximately eight years of research and development, CEO Ahn successfully commercialized a high-performance thermal break product that provides both thermal insulation and structural safety.

Jeongyang SG’s structural thermal break product is installed within the building structure, where it supports structural loads while delivering excellent thermal performance. By minimizing heat loss through the building envelope and preventing condensation, the product helps improve indoor environments. It is also recognized as a technology that contributes significantly to the realization of zero-energy buildings and the advancement of the Korean government’s carbon neutrality policy.

The product has received multiple government certifications and designations, including New Excellent Product (NEP) certification from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, designation as an Excellent R&D Innovative Product by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and registration as an Excellent Procurement Product by the Public Procurement Service. Its technological excellence has also been recognized through a Presidential Commendation and ministerial commendations from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
